Kelly and Andrew initially contacted Helen's husband because their dogs were barking all day and the neighbours were complaining. They wanted a Dog Walker to walk the dogs in the hope that this would stop the barking so they rang K9Helper and spoke to Helen's husband Dave who is a dog walker. It soon became clear to Dave that the dogs had a serious problem and Kelly and Andrew agreed, so they arranged a consultation with Helen.  9 weeks later the dogs had stopped barking completely and as a result of Dog Listening they are now happy owners with two very happy dogs.

This is what Kelly said:

"If asked how I found Dave and Helen I would have to say some sort of angel led me to them as I was at a loss as to where to go for help. I have two seven year old dogs who without us knowing had become very unhappy after a house move. We only realised there was a problem when the neighbours complained that the dogs were barking all day when we were at work. I found Helen and Dave on the internet, sent an email asking for help and got a phone call from Dave the next day. Dave and Helen came to see the dogs and it was agreed that Dave would come in to the dogs to let them out. After a few weeks it became obvious that the barking was the least of our problems and the fact was our dogs were very unhappy. A quick phone call to Helen and an appointment was made for a consultation. During the consultation Helen explained clearly and honestly what the problems were and what we needed to do to help our dogs. Now two months down the line and yes the barking has stopped but the biggest thing of all. My dogs are happy, happier than they have ever been. I don't think I could put into words how thankful I am to Helen and Dave for the help they have given me. I know they are always at the end of the phone if I need them and believe me I called a number of times at the beginning most of the time on the brink of tears, but I was soon put back on track. Helen and Dave are two of the kindest people I have ever met, they are brilliant with my dogs. I would definitely sing their praise from the rooftops any day of the week."

A recent letter from Kelly:

"Just thought I would tell you what the dogs have been up to. We took them to an agility class last night and they were really good. They listened to our instructions and came back when called. The trainer thought they were really good. They have come on so much since we met you and we would have never been able to train them in agility a year ago so thank you for everything"

Bonnie was jumping up at family and visitors and pulling on the lead, now she is calmer, she no longer jumps up at people and walks on the lead without pulling.

Boris and Miya are German Shepherd puppies. They have been raised using the Pure Dog Listening method and their owners have had no problems with separation anxiety or chewing. Both dogs are calm and relaxed and a pleasure to live with.

"Will and already have recommended the method to any and all who will listen. Amazing results. Hard to change the way we treat the dogs but it's so worth it."

Lily is Helen's own dog. She was rescued by the RSPCA a year ago and Helen agreed to foster her because the RSPCA did not have enough kennel space. Helen and Dave picked Lily up and put her in the car. As they prepared to drive home they looked around to make sure she was ok and got quite a shock as Lily sat there glaring at them and baring her teeth. They took her home and soon realised that every time they looked at her the same thing happened. Realising that Lily had a problem, undoubtably caused by humans they set about putting it right. They decided to adopt Lily straight away as it was clear that nobody would want her and she would be labelled "agressive".  It has taken more than a year to gain her trust 100% but by using Pure Dog Listening and giving Lily time to learn to trust again she is now a happy well balance dog and a delight to live with. It will be a while before Lily can trust strangers but she is improving every day.

Lola also came to Helen and Dave from the RSPCA. She had bitten her previous owner and they were considering having her put to sleep so although there were already 5 dogs in the house she was accepted into the Simmonds household initially as a foster dog and ended up a permanent resident. Lola proved to be a bit stubborn and liked to eat anything and everything. This was why she had bitten the owner who had been trying to take something out of her mouth.   Lola barked, and barked and barked. She barked at night, she barked at 5am every morning and she barked in people's faces. Within 2 weeks Lola stopped barking, and now she goes everywhere with Dave and helps him walk the other dogs. If any of the dogs go a bit too far or out of sight Lola will find them and bring them back. She is a very clever and obedient companion and she would not be alive now if they had not learnt this wonderful way of communicating in the dog's own language.

Jake is a 12 year old crossbreed who had developed a fear of hot-air balloons. Given that he lives close to the meeting place for the balloons this was becoming a real problem for the owners. Jake had even started barking at the moon!  Within weeks of the consultation Jake was no longer scared of the balloons.  Old dog -  new tricks ? no just Dog Listening at it's best !!
